Texas A&M Insect Open House 2010
This is the 22nd annual gathering of TAMU Insect Open House where insect hobbyists and experts meet at the Minnie Belle Heep
Building (AKA Heep Center) where millions of preserved specimen are open for public. The purpose of my trip this time was to collect
some information on location of native mantis species and some mantis publications. Following are some of the native mantis
specimens
This is the third time for me visiting the event. However, it feels like there are always something new for me every time checking out
loads of wonderful specimen. The building host many insects from around the world. Some of the insects were collected more than 50
yrs ago and some were collected by A&M students who were sent overseas for research. Following are photos for other preserved
insects.
Besides checking out different type of insects, I am also lucky to meet up with some friends from Houston area. Charlie (pic on left) is
another bug hunting friend I am sure we will be collecting bugs this coming summer. Anita (pic on right) is a naturalist for a park in
North Houston where I hope to attend her park program coming this Summer. and also some insect friends from Houston area
