(5-30-2007) It is Memorial week! School is off and many families are planning an early Summer vacation. We will be away for the
next few days on a trip to NY, that means i need a good planning before leaving all my mantis alone. So how did i do it? It does not
take a rocket scientist to figure out one. I have some flies pupa from the fridge, and then i started to remove some few days
before the trip, a day before the trip, and right before leaving the house. I placed all the pupa in the mantis cages, so the pupa will
hatch out on different day instead of all together. For the hatchling which i am keeping together, i have flyable fruit flies with honey
water in a cup, the fruit flies will last at least a week which provide the hatchling plenty of food to survive for a week. So, what
about ootheca? Well, i don't have anything that advance to care for all of them, so the super-duper easiest way is to have
someone baby-sit all the oothecae :)) Luckily, miss Erin was kind enough to look after the oothecae for me. I was hoping that none
of the ooth will hatch so not to add more work to already very busy Erin but unfortunately, on my way to the Museum, one of the
ootheca hatched out!! It was the
Theopompa sp., but i know they are in good hand. I have some updates on the log and photo.
(6-3-2007) I am returning from New York today and looking forward to check back with my mantis on Monday, i was told that
another ootheca hatched out lot of nymphs but have no idea what species so guess i will have to find out myself. Hope the rest of
the mantis at home are doing well.

i have no choice but to let this species go. I am flooded and the water level is right below my nostril!! Help!!
